The portion of the sidewalk running parallel to your house is maintained by the City. The portion from your front step to the City sidewalk is the homeownerās responsibility. It is important that a resident call the City at 972-304-3532 to have any portion or all of their sidewalk, curb, street, or alley evaluated when concerns arise. The City does not have the manpower to walk the neighborhoods to look for issues. You can also report any issues that you may have by filling out theĀ Non-Emergency Request for Service formĀ online.
- The damaged sidewalk is demolished and removed.Ā
- The ground is compacted and prepared.Ā
- Wood forms are set and rebar is placed.Ā
- Concrete is poured and cures/dries typically for 24 to 72 hours.Ā
- Control joints are sawcut and sealant is applied to expansion joints, if any.Ā
- Landscaping and irrigation will be returned to their original state.

An easement is a nonpossessory right to use and/or enter onto the real property of another without possessing it. View the different types of easements:
- Access easement - grants access across the property to serve another property.
- Detention/retention - a drainage easement that is dedicated to cover detention ponds and underground detention structures.
- Drainage easement - this is for anything stormwater-related, including the following: Underground storm sewer including inlets and outfalls, above ground drainage, such as a channel or a flume.
- Floodplain - as property is developed, a drainage easement is dedicated to protect the floodplain.
- General Utility easement - this is for any underground or above-ground utility such as gas, electric, water, sewer, etc.
- Specific utility easement (such as an electric easement or water easement) - this is for that specific utility only (a gas line cannot be in a water easement).

Mailboxes owned and maintained by the United States Postal Service (USPS) should have the picture of the U.S. Postal Service Eagle or a statement similar to "Property of United States Postal Service" on the side. If the local post office does not service the mailbox, this means the property owner/Home Owners Association (HOA) or manager is responsible for the maintenance.
